Heating and Air Conditioning Repair in Marietta, GA

Marietta is the county seat of Cobb County, about 15 to 20 miles northwest of downtown Atlanta, with I-75 and U.S. 41 (Cobb Parkway) running through the east side of town. Two details matter for HVAC work here. First, a “Marietta” mailing address is often outside the city limits in unincorporated Cobb, so the permit office is not always the same. Second, Cobb County shares the same humid subtropical climate as the rest of metro Atlanta: long cooling seasons with high humidity, and winters that are mostly mild but still cold enough that furnaces and heat pumps get real use on January mornings.

We start by diagnosing the system you have. A repair is often enough. When replacement is the better path, we explain why and quote it after a free in-home estimate.

Marietta Furnace, Heat Pump and AC Repair

Most repair calls start with heat that won’t stay on, an AC that can’t keep up, or a system that turns on and off too often. Before you call, a few safe checks can save time:

  • Thermostat: set to the right mode, set point above (heat) or below (cool) room temperature, batteries good if it uses them.
  • Filter: a clogged filter can make a furnace overheat and shut itself off, or starve an AC of airflow. Our guide to furnace and AC short cycling explains the common causes.
  • Power: check the breaker and the service switch near the furnace or air handler. If a breaker trips again after one reset, leave it off.
  • Heat pump frost: a light coat of frost in cold weather is normal and should clear in a defrost cycle. A thick block of ice that doesn’t clear is not normal.

If you smell gas, leave the house and call your gas provider or 911 from outside before you call us. For everything else, we offer 24/7 emergency service at (470) 360-8887.

Repair visits: our service fee is $125, and it’s credited toward the repair when you go ahead with the repair or a new system. Comfort Club members don’t pay service fees. Our standard is 24-hour turnaround: from your call to your system running again, for most repairs.

When It’s Time to Replace: How We Install in Marietta

If repairs no longer make sense, we’ll show you why and price the options. Not sure yet? See repair or replace your HVAC system: 5 things to check. Every Marietta replacement follows the Comfort Medics Installation Standard, as applicable to the equipment and project:

  • Load and equipment match: City of Marietta requires load calculations on new equipment at permit application. We size the system to the house, not to a rule of thumb.
  • Refrigerant commissioning: nitrogen flowing while brazing, pressure test, deep vacuum, and charge verified by superheat and subcooling, with the TXV evaluated where the equipment supports it.
  • Gas furnaces: gas pressure, temperature rise, and flue sizing and venting.
  • Airflow and drainage: ductwork evaluated, static pressure measured, blower set to suit, condensate drainage confirmed.

Details on each check are on our HVAC replacement and installation page.

Starting prices, as of November 2026: air conditioner replacement starts at $5,000, furnace replacement at $4,000, evaporator coil replacement at $2,000, a heat pump outdoor unit (air handler not included) at $2,000, and a complete system at $7,000. Your final price depends on your home’s size, ductwork, equipment efficiency and the options you choose, and we quote it after a free in-home estimate. Already have a replacement quote? A second opinion before you decide is free. See the full ranges in our HVAC replacement cost guide.

Permits: City of Marietta or Cobb County

We pull the permit on every replacement. Inside Marietta city limits, City of Marietta Permits & Inspections issues the mechanical permit through its online SagesGov portal. A mechanical permit is required for heating, air conditioning, exhaust, ventilation and gas supply work; the city requires load calculations on new equipment, and replacement systems must be inspected within 30 days of installation and operation. Homeowners cannot apply for mechanical permits themselves; the licensed contractor applies. Outside the city in unincorporated Cobb County, Cobb County Community Development’s Building Division issues the permit. Either way, we sort out the correct office and handle it before your new system goes in.

Warranty and Financing on a New System

On a new Marietta system you get three layers of coverage: a 10-year manufacturer parts warranty on qualifying equipment (registration may be required), a 10-year labor warranty from Comfort Medics, and our lifetime craftsmanship guarantee. Optional third-party extended coverage, such as JB Warranties, is available too. Financing is available through FTL Finance and other lenders, for repairs and new systems (subject to credit approval); see our financing page.

Marietta HVAC Questions

Do you serve homes outside Marietta city limits?

Yes. Many “Marietta” addresses are in unincorporated Cobb County. Outside the city, the permit comes from Cobb County Community Development instead of City of Marietta Permits & Inspections. We confirm which office applies and pull the permit.

Why does the city ask for load calculations on a new system?

City of Marietta requires load calculations when you apply for a mechanical permit on new equipment. That keeps the system matched to the house so it can cool, heat and remove humidity correctly. We include that work as part of a proper replacement.

My furnace turns on and off every few minutes. Is that serious?

It should be checked. Start with the filter. If a clean filter doesn’t stop it, the cause may be airflow, a flame sensor, venting or an oversized furnace, and some of those are safety shutdowns.

Can you come out at night or on a weekend?

Yes. We offer 24/7 emergency service. Call (470) 360-8887.
