HVAC Repair and Replacement in Roswell, GA
Roswell sits in northern Fulton County along the Chattahoochee River, with a historic district and a large Atlanta-area suburban community around it. It has a humid subtropical climate: long, sticky summers and mostly mild winters. That humidity is what an air conditioner or heat pump has to fight as hard as the temperature. If the house cools but still feels clammy, the cause is often airflow, a dirty coil or an incorrect refrigerant charge rather than a unit that is simply “too small.”
Before we talk about new equipment, we look at how the current system is running. Sometimes a repair is the right answer. When replacement makes more sense, we price the options side by side after a free in-home estimate.

Repairs, Service and After-Hours Calls in Roswell
Not every problem needs a new system. We repair furnaces, air conditioners and heat pumps in Roswell, and we offer 24/7 emergency service for the night the heat quits or the weekend the AC stops. Before you call, a few safe checks:
- Confirm the thermostat is in the right mode and has working batteries, if it uses them.
- Check the air filter. A clogged filter can choke airflow and, on an AC, contribute to a frozen coil.
- Check the breaker for the indoor and outdoor units. If it trips again after one reset, leave it off and call.
- If you see ice on the refrigerant lines or water around the indoor unit, turn the cooling off and call us.
Repair visits: our service fee is $125, and it’s credited toward the repair when you go ahead with the repair or a new system. Comfort Club members don’t pay service fees. Our standard is 24-hour turnaround: from your call to your system running again, for most repairs.
Replacing a System in Roswell: What We Check
A new system is only as good as the way it’s installed and set up. Our Roswell installs follow the Comfort Medics Installation Standard, performed as applicable to the equipment and project:
- Moisture and charge: on an AC or heat pump we braze with nitrogen flowing, pressure test, pull a deep vacuum, and verify the refrigerant charge with superheat and subcooling. The TXV is evaluated where the equipment supports it. In a humid climate, getting the charge and airflow right is what lets the system remove moisture as well as heat.
- Airflow: we evaluate the ductwork, measure static pressure and set the blower to suit the system.
- Gas furnaces: temperature rise, gas pressure, and flue sizing and venting.
- Electrical and drainage: supply voltage, amp draws, control-board settings, and condensate drainage before we leave.
For the full list and the reason behind each check, see our HVAC replacement and installation page. If you’re still deciding, our guide to repair or replace walks through the trade-offs.
Starting prices, as of November 2026: air conditioner replacement starts at $5,000, furnace replacement at $4,000, evaporator coil replacement at $2,000, a heat pump outdoor unit (air handler not included) at $2,000, and a complete system at $7,000. Your final price depends on your home’s size, ductwork, equipment efficiency and the options you choose, and we quote it after a free in-home estimate. Already have a replacement quote? A second opinion before you decide is free. See the full ranges in our HVAC replacement cost guide.
Permits: City of Roswell
We pull a permit on every replacement. Inside Roswell city limits, replacing HVAC equipment requires a mechanical permit and an inspection through the City of Roswell Community Development Building Division. The city takes applications and inspection requests only through its online Permitting & Licensing HUB, and a licensed contractor applies under their own license. If the home is occupied, someone needs to be there for the inspection. A “Roswell” mailing address is not always inside the city, so we confirm which jurisdiction applies to your parcel and take care of the permit either way.
Warranty and Financing
A new system from Comfort Medics comes with a 10-year manufacturer parts warranty on qualifying equipment (registration may be required), a 10-year labor warranty from Comfort Medics and our lifetime craftsmanship guarantee. Optional third-party extended coverage, such as JB Warranties, is also available. If monthly payments work better, financing is available through FTL Finance and other lenders, for repairs and new systems (subject to credit approval); see our financing page.

Roswell HVAC Questions
Do I have to do anything about the permit?
No. A licensed contractor applies for the permit under their own license, and we pull it on every replacement. The city does ask that someone is home for the inspection of an occupied house. We confirm the right jurisdiction for your address first, since a Roswell mailing address is not always inside the city.
My AC runs all afternoon and the house still feels sticky. Do I need a new unit?
Not necessarily. Low airflow, a dirty coil, an incorrect refrigerant charge or a system that’s oversized for the house can all leave humidity behind. We check how the system is running before recommending anything.
Is a heat pump a good fit for a Roswell home?
It can be. Heat pumps handle both heating and cooling on electricity, usually with backup heat for the coldest mornings. Whether it fits depends on your current equipment, ductwork and electrical service, which we look at during the free estimate.
Can you come out at night or on a weekend?
Yes. We offer 24/7 emergency service. Call (470) 360-8887.
